D2D: Dare To Dance - Dance Company

During my studies for an MA at Middlesex University in 2006 I researched dance in the community and working with older people. On graduating I was inspired to set up and develop a company for dancers over 40.

D2D Dance Company is a performance-based company which meets once a week at The Bull Theatre in Barnet; each session starts with a warm-up, embracing elements of contemporary dance, ballet, mime, physical theatre and Tai-Chi, followed by a creative workshop and rehearsals of work(s) in progress. Plus meditation.

The Company has built up an excellent profile since it began seven years ago. We have been performing regularly in community spaces and theatres including Sadler’s Wells and Queen Elizabeth Hall on Southbank.

I believe that it is important for people over 40 to be stimulated and challenged both mentally and physically in a creative environment of this kind. D2D dancers are committed to the company, working extremely hard, enjoying contributing ideas in rehearsals, and the excitement and challenge of live performance.
